Whimple has a main line station to Waterloo or Exeter, two good pubs serving excellent food, a post office, shop, hairdresser and a heritage centre. The heritage centre is open Wednesdays 2-4 pm and Saturdays 10-4.

Whimple is equal distance, 10 miles, from the cathedral City of Exeter and the famous lace-making town of Honiton.  Honiton Lace was used for Queen Victoria’s veil and, as she liked it so much, she had a christening gown made which is still used today for Royal babies.

The town of Ottery St. Mary, famous for tar barrelling and the birthplace of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, is only four miles away and the unspoilt regency seaside town of Sidmonth is just 20 minutes drive away.

Within a couple of miles we have another two good restaurants; the award winning ‘Jack-in-the-green’ and the ‘Oriental Promise’ Chinese Restaurant.

Exeter Airport is a few minutes drive away. A pick-up service is available to and from the Airport. Leave your car here while you fly off to warm climates.

There are riding stables within a mile or two.  The sandy seaside resort of Exmouth is 10 miles away.  Budleigh Salterton is also close by.
